Just like Lockheed Martin’s famous Skunk Works for Advanced Development Programs that produced the F22 Raptor and the F35 Lightning II, Healthy Addiction has its own Skunk Works for developing specialty food items. Our pre- and post- exercise Life Bar, for example, took more than a year before our partner-in-charge of new food products, Brandon Meuse, was satisfied we had the right combination of ingredients and taste.
The photo to the right takes you inside our kitchen at partner Anna Lathrop’s Gourmet Galley in North Stonington. Raw Food Expert Alyssa Guminsky is slicing the dates for our proprietary new raw food Fudge. Alyssa and veteran cook, Brook Wiersch, prepared our first batch of fudge yesterday for delivery fresh today.
Alyssa came to know raw foods the hard way. Her mother contracted ovarian cancer and consequently eats raw foods to keep the cancer at bay. The two of them developed a series of delicious raw foods, so you can expect to see more of Alyssa’s products in the future.
Come to 5-1 Davis Road East in Old Lyme, CT between 11:00 and 1:00 today for a free sample of this amazingly healthy dessert treat. Alyssa’s Fudge is VEGAN, Gluten-free, Raw, and has all natural sugars. Our friends at LIVESTRONG had this to say about dark chocolate:
“Scientific studies of the effects of dark chocolate indicate that it stimulates the release of endorphins in the human body. As a result, dark chocolate may have an anti-depressant effect. The Mayo Clinic says other studies suggest the antioxidants in dark chocolate help to reduce high blood pressure and improve circulation. Advocates of raw cacao beans claim the beans provide these health benefits to a greater degree because the raw beans have a higher level of antioxidants than processed chocolate.”
